This week is focused on the Google Collaborative apps from the Google Apps for Work suite. There are 7 features of the Google Collaborative Apps Docs, Sheets, and Slides that advance collaboration. These innovative features provide key reasons why you should be using Docs, Sheets, and Slides instead of anything else.

  1. Never Hit Save Again

If you have ever had your computer freeze, crash, or update in the middle of working on something, you will truly appreciate how Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides all automatically save while you work. Gone are the days where you have to periodically stop what you are doing and hit save. Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides save your work while you create and creates a revision history. The revision history can be used to see old versions of the same document, sorted by date and who made the change. Additionally, you can rollback to any previous version if needed.

  1. Anywhere, Anytime

In this day and age, we all live on our phones. The ability to download Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides to your phone allows you to take your work everywhere you go. Not only can you access, create, and edit files anywhere and on any device, but you can also share files on-the-go. This allows you to create and share ideas with anyone even if they’re on the other side of the planet.

  1. Do More Together

Google Docs, Sheets, Slides reinvent the way files are shared by allowing multiple users work on same files at the same time. All changes are made in real time and are automatically stored in Google Drive. This eliminates the need to send attachments to keep everyone on the same page as everyone has the latest version at their fingertips. One of the most beneficial features of Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides is it’s ability to add customization. With the add-ons tab, you can search and find additional functionality to enhance Docs, Sheets, and Slides. The add-ons tab lets you add, manage and remove add-ons based on your needs. This customization allows you to select additional tools you want or need at any time.

If you need to create a file quickly, the template feature of Google Docs, Sheets and Slides allow you to do it with style. There are numerous pre-made documents, spreadsheets, and presentations available for customization. Templates save you time by removing the need to format and style files. Modern User Interface

The new user interface delivers a modern approach and puts the most important information front and center. Three new features were added that display upon login:  quarterly performance, account insights, and assistant. Quarterly performance integrates data from Salesforce to provide a quick snapshot of your company’s performance for the quarter. Account insights displays relevant articles about your top accounts to foster deeper customer relationships. Assistant shows items that need attention such as open tasks, new leads, or opportunities with no action.

Proactive Sales Intelligence

Proactive sales intelligence takes data analytics a step further with new tools and functionality. The new feature Pipeline arranges all opportunities on one page. This allows for better visibility and provides a high-level overview without running any reports. Proactive Sales Intelligence makes updating the opportunity status easier than ever with drag and drop technology. The Salesforce automation allows you to change an opportunity status simply by clicking it and moving it to the next stage.

Customizable Platform

Salesforce Lightning provides additional customization. Both Sales Path and Dashboards benefit from the advanced functionality. In Sales Path, each stage of the deal can be standardized according to your needs. Not only does this provide consistency, but it also allows quick and easy onboarding of new reps. New features were added to show recent activity related to the opportunity, show relevant files, and allow you to take notes on the same page as the opportunity. In Dashboards, there is a new capability that allows you to create up to nine columns instead of the previous three.

New Salesforce Pardot Developments Aiding In B2B Sales

Since the Salesforce Pardot partnership began roughly two years ago, sales in the business-to-business world has seen widespread success for businesses and their customers across the board. Recently, Salesforce Pardot has developed new systems to enhance the lead generation and management system and one of these new developments is Intelligent Engagement Studio, a program implementing viewable, interactive records and data. Intelligent Engagement Studio will use 100 different ‘triggers’ to help identify and narrow down the most quality leads. This will also help with getting a more detailed report on the progression of campaigns. If an email has not been viewed enough times, the program will make suggestions like making the subject line of an email shorter or to simply send emails less frequently. Another small feature of Intelligent Engagement Studio is color coding, to make reports and campaign analytics easier to view and organize.

A second feature coming to Salesforce Pardot is Sales Cloud Engage. Sales Cloud Engage will implement a mobile-friendly, real-time system that will allow salespeople to see in depth reports and results from their campaigns, add a prospect to an active campaign right from their phone, and have a more efficient relationship with their prospects throughout the sales cycle. Salesforce AppExchange Apps Make Business A Snap

Run your business with the snap of your fingers using powerful apps from the Salesforce AppExchange. Today business is around the clock, on the road, and in the cloud. Businesses are using apps to make work easier every day. If your company uses the world’s leading cloud based CRM platform, Salesforce, check out the Salesforce AppExchange. The apps in the marketplace are pre-integrated with Salesforce and updates are done automatically and hassle free. A few apps I have had the pleasure of working with are MailChimp and TinderBox.

MailChimp is a wonderful app to easily create visually enticing emails (and plain text too if need be).  It works seamlessly with Salesforce so you can create email lists by lead type, lead status, industry, etc., and track how many emails were opened, forwarded, bounced, and unsubscribed. It helps you target your emails using advanced analytics with plenty of reporting options. Know what time of day most emails were opened and the open rates for that campaign, as well as if they clicked on any links you might have included in the email. TinderBox is another app I have been working closely with. It’s a handy app for generating electronic proposals, online presentations, and creating documents. You can create templates to resource when you need to generate a proposal quickly, or you can create one on the fly. Since it integrates so well with Salesforce it can merge fields directly into the proposal such as the contact name, account name, account logo, and the opportunity dollar value to name a few. Once this is created a link to the proposal can be shared. This allows the decision maker to view, ask a question, and hopefully accept the proposal. It even has electronic signature functionality. In The Clouds about Cloud Computing?

Are you still in the clouds when it comes to Cloud Computing? Don’t worry you’re not the only one. I know when I first heard about Cloud Computing I had a difficult time understanding how it worked. Either no one could explain it like I was a child or I was too scared of it to really grasp how technology was advancing so quickly. Shoot, my third grade nephew could probably explain it to us easier than anyone! So let me give it a try if you are still scratching your head on how this whole thing works.

Back many years ago in order to run your computer with any type of software, such as a video game, quick books, an appointment booking program for your business, you needed a disk with this program on it. You loaded the disk in your system and voila you could work or play. All of your progress was stored in your computer (hard drive). You had to access your hard drive to pick up where you left off.  But how frustrating was it if you ran out of memory, space and the computer crashed? Now imagine you are a business, trying to allow customers to access your website, book appointments online, or have many employees working on the same software and same computer network. You need to make sure your main computer (server) was up to speed and able to talk to every single person all at once.  Too much chatter in one room is awful and would make anyone scream, so imagine your poor little server and how it feels when it can’t take all the chatter anymore.  It crashes and shuts down. With the cloud you don’t have to worry about all that. All of your information (data) is sent to a remote server (the cloud). No need to worry about dealing with any computer crashes. The cloud is so powerful it can handle all the chatter.  It even encourages the challenge! As long as you have internet service you can easily access all of your data from a smartphone, tablet, laptop or desktop.

I’m sure you’re next question is how safe can the Cloud truly be with all my private information floating around.  Before, you had total control of the safety of your data but you had to make sure you were protected from hackers.  The companies keep all this data securely encrypted and under heavy lock and key so to say.  Even their employees can’t access your data.  Remember the server I was telling you about?  These companies have invested in back up servers and usually on multiple continents.  So if anything tragic happens at any place in the world they have you covered.  Covered from earthquake shocks, physical security, you name it, you are protected by your cloud.

Many people don’t realize that they are even using Cloud Computing technology.  Do you use Gmail, Facebook, Netflix, to name a few? And I mean FEW! Look at you!
