The Perfect Fit for mission-driven organizations
Consultant
Delivery Team | Full-Time
Prolocity is a consultancy for nonprofits. We help mission-driven organizations do more for the people they serve, acting as their strategic guide for the technology decisions that make it possible. Salesforce is our primary platform. Our work is measured by outcomes: whether our clients are actually able to do more of their mission because of the technology we build with them. We’re investing in an AI-enabled way of delivering so we can do more for our clients at lower cost, and our people bring the judgment that makes sure we’re solving the right problem and building the right thing. It’s a small team, and we hire people who care about a client’s mission as much as they care about the craft of technology consulting. Recognized on the Inc. 5000 and named a Best Places to Work finalist, Prolocity combines nonprofit expertise with outcome-focused delivery.
Is This You?
You have led consulting engagements before, and you’re ready to lead them at a firm where the work matters and the team is small enough to see the impact of your judgment. You know how to own a client relationship end to end. You bring a point of view to strategic conversations, hold hard conversations about hours and scope without flinching, and rebuild trust when an engagement gets bumpy. You’ve grown past the phase of executing under someone else’s design, and you’re looking for a seat where you drive the design and shape the outcome.
This role splits between leading implementation engagements and serving as the Engagement Manager on a portfolio of PROserve managed services clients, holding those client relationships over years, not months. The nature of consulting means no two projects are exactly alike, and you’ll often help clients navigate uncertainty as their needs evolve. If you’re energized by turning complexity into clarity, running toward hard conversations rather than around them, and enjoy the variety that comes with owning multiple client relationships at once, you’ll find a great home here.
Who You Are
The consultants who thrive here share three qualities that help everyone succeed: our clients, our teammates, and one another. These are the traits we look for because they’re what make great consulting partnerships at this level of ownership.
Humble
- You own your mistakes specifically. When an engagement slips, your instinct is to look at your part first.
- You welcome feedback with curiosity and see it as an opportunity to grow. You care more about finding the best solution than having the right answer.
- You collaborate openly, knowing great ideas can come from anyone on the team, including the consultants and project managers you work alongside.
Driven
- You take ownership of outcomes, not just tasks. You measure yourself by whether clients achieve what they came to us for.
- You raise hard news early, not late. You would rather deliver an uncomfortable message on Monday than a crisis on Friday.
- You follow through on commitments to clients and team members with consistency and care, including the small administrative commitments that add up to trust.
People-Smart
- You build trust by listening first, asking thoughtful questions, and navigating conversations with empathy and good judgment.
- You engage well in hard conversations, especially the ones about hours, expectations, and scope. You bring a point of view without steamrolling, and you hold ground under pressure without becoming defensive.
- You read the room in real time and adapt your approach to what the moment needs, whether that’s a five-star delivery update or a difficult conversation about a partnership at risk.
What You’ll Do
This role splits between two functions. You’ll operate as a Lead Consultant on a portfolio of implementation projects and as an Engagement Manager on a portfolio of PROserve managed services clients. Across both, you’ll work with a team that includes a Business Analyst on PROserve engagements, and a Project Manager and supporting consultants on implementations. You own the client relationship and the strategic direction as an Engagement Manager, and you’ll own the full solution on implementations.. Your team handles the tactical execution under your direction.
As a Lead Consultant on implementation projects, you will:
- Own the Salesforce solution, from discovery through go-live, ensuring the design aligns with the client’s real objectives, not just their stated requirements
- Lead discovery, translating what the client says they need into what they actually need to achieve their outcomes
- Direct the work of supporting consultants on the project, prioritizing activities, QA’ing their work, and giving clear feedback when performance needs to adjust
- Partner with the Project Manager on hard conversations with the client, bringing your point of view on the solution while they own the navigation with the client
- Deliver the solution on schedule, on budget, and to the client’s satisfaction
What It Really Takes
In addition to our core values, successful consultants at Prolocity bring a specific set of strengths to their work. If the following resonates with how you approach challenges, you’ll find this environment particularly rewarding.
- Strategic point of view: you show up to client conversations with a perspective, not a blank slate. You’ve earned the credibility to disagree with a client’s stated request when the underlying outcome would be better served by a different approach, and you know how to make that disagreement productive.
- Executive presence: you communicate with client leadership as a peer, not as a vendor. You translate technical decisions into business outcomes without losing precision.
- Portfolio judgment: you know what to do first when everything feels urgent. You maintain momentum across five to ten client engagements without dropping the details that matter.
- Hard conversation muscle: you have real reps having difficult conversations about hours, scope, and expectations. You initiate them early, hold ground under pressure, and rebuild trust after the conversation lands.
- Pragmatic delivery judgment: you understand that for a nonprofit, a functional and adopted solution delivered on time is far more valuable than a perfect build that exceeds the available budget.
- Salesforce platform expertise: you have strong, hands-on configuration proficiency in Salesforce and the technical judgment to design solutions that scale with the client, not just work today.
- Consistent, proactive ownership: you are a reliable partner to your clients and your team. Your BAs, PM’s, and peers trust you to own your work and communicate early when momentum is at risk.
What You Bring
- Prior experience leading client engagements: you have owned client relationships end to end on prior consulting engagements, including the strategic direction and the hard conversations, not just the technical execution.
- Nonprofit sector expertise: you possess a deep understanding of the unique challenges mission-driven organizations face. You prioritize real-world impact over technical complexity, keeping organizational goals front and center. While a history of consulting or volunteering for nonprofits is preferred, a sincere passion for social impact is essential.
- Adaptive AI mindset: we leverage AI as a fundamental accelerant of our work. You will frequently utilize AI-augmented tools to focus your judgment where it matters most and help refine our delivery methodology. We seek curious practitioners who are eager to explore how these emerging technologies can enhance their craft and keep pace with industry evolution.
- Salesforce mastery and certification: a Certified Administrator credential and hands-on configuration skills are mandatory. Advanced Administrator, Nonprofit Cloud Consultant, or equivalent certifications are strongly preferred. Salesforce serves as our core platform; while your strategic judgment is what defines you as a senior consultant, technical command is the baseline requirement.
- Solution design experience at scale: a track record of translating complex requirements into functional outcomes for clients, including on engagements of 500 hours and up.
- Academic or professional background: a bachelor’s degree or relevant career experience.
