Summer '25 Release Highlights

Three times a year, Salesforce introduces updates and features in new releases. The latest release, Summer '25, went live for customers in mid-to-late June. Here are five features that we think will be highly impactful for admins and users:

Dashboard widgets can now be refreshed individually

Now, you can refresh individual widgets on a dashboard rather than the entire dashboard to improve performance. For example, a support team member can refresh only the Open Tickets widget to see the most up-to-date list of unresolved issues. Each individual widget also gets a note of its last refresh date and time. You can only refresh each widget once per minute.

Authorized Email Domains allow bypassing verification of individual users' email addresses

As Salesforce has tightened the rules for sending email messages, they've increasingly required users to verify their email addresses are valid. Normally, this happens when users activate accounts–assuming they use Salesforce credentials. But for orgs that require SSO through a third party tool like Okta or Microsoft Azure, this step usually gets skipped. Now, the new Authorized Email Domains option in Setup allows you to verify ownership of your corporate domain (similar to the setup for DKIM keys). Any user accounts that are tied to that domain can then bypass verification.

Einstein Activity Capture now better supports Salesforce reporting & automations

One of the biggest obstacles for some orgs to adoption of EAC was the lack of built in Salesforce reporting support for things like last email sent and allowing automation through Flow for actions when emails were sent or received. This happened because EAC didn't actually store emails in Salesforce, it just processed users' mailboxes and stored references to the messages. With the new Sync Email as Salesforce Activity setting, you get the best of both worlds–EAC can auto-associate emails to records, but those associations can be manually overridden (added or deleted), and reported on and automated with Flows. Just be aware, turning on this feature will consume storage in Salesforce!

Take advantage of a greatly simplified SendEmail action in Flow

Salesforce has made huge strides with the SendEmail action in Flow, adding a bunch of functionality that used to require third-party packages. But those new features came with a cost–the user interface got very busy and cluttered. In this release, Salesforce has cleaned the UI up and logically reorganized everything into collapsible sections. But that doesn't mean Salesforce didn't add new functionality! Now, you can select email templates using a search-and-find picker (instead of having to use a Get Records element or paste a record ID into your Flow). If you want to compose a message rather than use a template, the SendEmail action now has a WYSIWYG editor that you can use, eliminating the need to create a Text Template element. You can also attach files to emails using an attachment collection variable.

Volunteer Management for Nonprofit Cloud is coming

The Summer ’25 Release introduces a new native Volunteer Management data architecture in Nonprofit Cloud, intended to replace Volunteers for Salesforce (V4S). The updated system will include tools to help organizations schedule volunteer activities, track hours, and collect data on volunteer contributions. It also adds new fields to capture information such as applications, skills, and benefits provided to volunteers. Experience Cloud using nonprofits can now create volunteer portals where individuals can browse opportunities, sign up, and manage their participation. The June release laid the groundwork–while the October release will release the user interface for these features. Best of all, Volunteer Management will be included at no extra cost in Enterprise Edition and above.

That's just a few highlights
