Spring '25 Release Highlights

Three times a year, Salesforce introduces updates and features in new releases. The latest release, Spring '25, went live for customers in February. Here are five features that we think will be highly impactful for admins and users:

Nonprofit Cloud Gift Entry now allows custom fields

Salesforce has added a key feature that existed in NPSP to Nonprofit Cloud–the ability to define and add custom fields into the gift entry user interface. This makes it far more efficient to add fields that are relevant to your business process, like acknowledgement instructions or other notes. Custom fields can be mapped to multiple objects (like Account or Gift Commitment), and can appear in either the single entry or the bulk entry screen.

Password reset email links no longer expire after one click

This may be the best feature in the release for Office 365 customers (or other customers who have email security software that scans links in messages). It has been a longstanding issue that users in those environments who try to reset their passwords are unable to do so because the email security software effectively "clicks" the link to scan it. This results in the link expiring, and simply directs the user to the login page instead of the password reset page. Salesforce has addressed this issue by adding a step in the password reset process–now when a user clicks the link in the email, they will be directed to a page that asks if they are ready to reset the password. Clicking the button on this page is now the trigger to expire the password.

Screen Flows now support a visual progress indicator

Screen Flows can now show the user visual progress indicators that orient the user to where they are in a multi-step process. Two types of indicators exist–simple ones that only show the number of steps, and Path-style indicators that can include text labels. Once you've mapped Stages to Screen elements, Salesforce automatically handles displaying the current stage as the user progresses through the Flow. Stages can even be added to the indicator dynamically based on user input by adding them to the $Flow.ActiveStages element.

Send emails with attachments using the Flow SendEmail action

Until now, if you needed to send an email with files attached to it, you had to use an Apex action like UnofficialSF's SendBetterEmail. This release changes that–the standard SendEmail Flow action now has an optional parameter for Attachment ID. This field accepts a comma-separated list of record IDs for files stored as Documents, Content Versions, or Attachments and then attaches the files to the message. There is no official limit to the number of files you can attach to an email, but remember that you can't attach more than 35 megabytes of files to an email.

Redirect to a newly-created record from a Quick Action

When you build a Quick Action that creates a record, it's always been possible to redirect the user to the newly-created record if your action uses a standard "toast" popup message. In this release, you can now do the same thing while setting a custom toast message, which makes it easier to add relevant guidance for your users.

That's just a few highlights
